API and system integration

Connect the customer journey across systems.

Discuss your product

The experience crosses a system boundary

A booking, application or prescription can involve several services before the customer’s task is complete. Connecting endpoints is only part of the work. We define what the product promises, which system can confirm the result and what the user sees while the next step is still unresolved.

Establish the operating contract

We identify the source of truth for important records, identifiers and states. The implementation must account for repeated requests, delayed responses and conflicting updates. A successful response may mean only that work was accepted into a queue. We distinguish that from completion so the interface does not make a promise the integration cannot support.

Build the exception path

Timeouts and unavailable partners need a reconciliation process. We define what can be retried, what requires review and who owns escalation. Logs and operational tools should expose the last confirmed state and the relevant identifiers without collecting unnecessary sensitive content. Testing includes failure and recovery, not only the successful exchange.

Release the connected journey

We verify the customer task through the actual systems and agree the support arrangement between teams. Blackberry Farm and Mountain provide a relevant example: our work connected a reservation interface to the systems behind the stay. Your integration begins with its own business rules, partner constraints and acceptance criteria.

Questions before we start

Can you work with an undocumented API?

We can begin with a bounded assessment of the available interface and observed behaviour. Access, partner support and constraints determine what can be delivered.

Who handles failures after launch?

We agree incident ownership, monitoring and recovery procedures with your team and any external partners before release.
